A High Potential Individual visa enables international graduates who have been awarded an overseas degree-level academic qualification that is equivalent to a UK bachelor’s or postgraduate degree to work or look for work in the UK.
In order to successfully apply for a High Potential Individual, applicants must meet the following key requirements:
A High Potential Individual visa is usually granted for 2 years. For applicant who have a PHD or another doctoral qualification, it lasts for 3 years.
This visa cannot be extended and does not lead to settlement, however applicants wishing to stay in the UK for longer, may be able to switch to a different visa i.e., a Skilled Worker visa.
The partner and children of an applicant can accompany or join them so long as they meet the eligibility criteria. If this is met, they will be issued a visa which will have the same end date as High Potential Individual visa holder.
The Home Office will usually process a High Potential Individual visa application within 3 weeks if it is made from outside the UK. If the application is made from within the UK, then a decision will usually be made within 8 weeks.
The Home Office fee is £715.
Applicants will also need to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge. This is usually £624 per year.
